Lloyd S. Brenden, 94, a resident of Rothsay, died Thursday, May 21, 2009, at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls. He was born September 2, 1914, to Syver and Louise (Hovland) Brenden on the family farm in Trondhjem Township of Otter Tail County. He was the youngest son and last surviving sibling of the family. He was baptized and confirmed in Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Rothsay and was a lifetime member there. He attended school for eight years in District 82, rural Rothsay, and following school he worked on the family farm for his father and owned some acreage of his own. Lloyd was never married and lived at various places before becoming a resident at the Broen Home where he enjoyed the excellent care from the staff there, visiting, watching his own TV, and reading newspapers and the Bible. Preceding him in death were his brothers, Axel, Selmer, Arne, Bennie and infant brother Oscar, and sisters, Lillian, Ruth and Violet. Survivors include his nephews, Selvin (Margaret) Brenden and Eldon Brenden, all of Rothsay; nieces, Arlene Westberg of Hoffman, Joyce (Bob) Bruns of Fergus Falls, and Jane (Glen) Buchholz of Breckenridge; and numerous grand nieces and nephews, as well as great-grand nieces and nephews, and cousins.
