Lillian (Crofoot) Johnston, 96, a resident of Fergus Falls, formerly of Minneapolis, died Saturday, February 07, 2009 at the Pioneer Retirement Community. Lillian was born on November 20, 1912, the daughter of Benjamin and Sophie (Gurslie) Crofoot in Brookings, SD. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1930 and then graduated from St. Cloud Teachers College. She taught school in Big Lake and the Minneapolis School system for over 20 years. Preceding her in death was her beloved husband, Bill Johnston, daughter, Virginia Blomgren and sons-in-law, Lyndon Blomgren and Bill McKenzie; her parents; sister, Selma Glaesemann; brothers, Ted, Herman, Brainerd and Rueben Crofoot. Survivors include her loving brother, Grant (Betty) Crofoot; daughters, Jean McKenzie, Mary (Ken) Swanson; beloved grandchildren, Shannon, Suzie, Paul, Laura and Lois (Eric Banken); four great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Pioneer Retirement Community Foundation, the American Cancer Society or the donor’s choice. Visitation: ½ hour prior to the service at Lakewood Memorial Chapel, Minneapolis. Service: 12 p.m. Friday at Lakewood Memorial Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Avenue, Minneapolis.
