Lillian Johnson

Lillian E. Johnson, 94, of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, May 13, 2007, at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls. She was born February 15, 1913, in Fergus Falls, the daughter of Rudolph and Martha (Beske) Rossow. She grew up in Fergus Falls and attended school there. After high school she attended Northwestern College. On November 6, 1935, she married Arthur Johnson at her parent's home in Orwell Township. The couple lived and farmed in Orwell Township until 1983, when they moved to Fergus Falls. She was active on the farm doing milking, feeding and field work. During those years she was a member of the Orwell Sunshine, Homemakers, Augustana Lutheran Church Women, the Orwell Farmers Club and the Farmer's Union. Lillian enjoyed sewing, baking, and gardening. While raising her children she was faithful at reading them stories and bible stories at bedtime. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Arthur, who died on November 12, 1996; a sister, Irene Meyer; and a brother, Herb Rossow. Survivors include her sons: David (Donna) Johnson of Fergus Falls, and Gordon (Cynthia) Johnson of Battle Lake; a daughter, Connie (Larry) Wahlstrom of Fergus Falls; nine grandchildren: Douglas (Billie Jo) Johnson of Jordan, MN, Darren (Kari) Johnson, David Johnson, and Todd (Dacia) Johnson, all of Fergus Falls, Stephanie (Eric) Johnson of Waconia, Lisa (Al) Rezac of Bloomington, Melissa Johnson of Fergus Falls, Kyle (Katherine) Wahlstrom of St. Paul, and Kirk (Martha) Wahlstrom of Madison, WI; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Service: 1 p.m. Friday at Augustana Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.
