Lila I. Boeck, 85, a resident of Fergus Falls, formerly of Wahpeton, died Sunday, October 04, 2009 at the Pioneer Retirement Community in Fergus Falls. She was born July 1, 1924, in Greenwood, Wisconsin, the daughter of Matt and Hulda (Natava) Nyysti. She grew up and attended school in Wisconsin. On September 24, 1949, she married Alvin Boeck in Waukegan, Illinois. The couple moved to Wahpeton, North Dakota in 1949 after Alvin’s discharge from the Navy. Lila worked at the Gibsons/Pamida store in Wahpeton for many years. She later worked for 3M until her retirement. She moved to Fergus Falls a few years after her husband’s death, living at Riverview Heights. In the spring of 2009 she moved to the Pioneer Retirement Community. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Wahpeton. She enjoyed playing bingo, gardening, and canning. Lila loved to be with people and make people laugh; she had a special wit about her. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Alvin, on January 15, 2002; two sisters, Lillian Roberts and Kay Hendricks; and two brothers, Donald Nyysti, and Phil Nyysti. Survivors include her three daughters, Sharon Paler of Willmar, Carol (Gaylen) Affield of Fergus Falls, and Patricia (Roger) Hulne of Prescott, WI; one son, Alvin (Rita) Boeck of Wahpeton; and nine grandchildren.
