LeRoy W. Western, 86, a resident of Fergus Falls and formerly of Rothsay, died Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at the Lakeland Hospice House in Fergus Falls. He was born March 20, 1924, to Ingvold and Stina (Tweedt) Western in rural Rothsay, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Rothsay. He attended country school through the eighth grade, and graduated from Rothsay High School in 1942. He was active in the Rothsay 4-H Club. LeRoy was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, serving as Sunday School treasurer and on the church council. On March 20, 1956, he married Alice Anderson of Fergus Falls. He owned and operated Rothsay Equipment, retiring in 1995. He and Alice moved to Fergus Falls on March 21, 1996. Survivors include his son, Dr. Lonny (Lauren) Western of Redondo Beach, CA, and daughter Gayla (Jim) Haukos of Fergus Falls; a granddaughter, Lacey Haukos and a grandson, Joey Haukos; as well as several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Alice, a sister, Ione Wigdahl, and a brother, Virgil Western.
