LeRoy Thelen

LeRoy Thelen, 89, of Fergus Falls, died November 13, 2024, at Park Gardens Senior Living.

LeRoy Frederick Thelen was born November 5, 1935 in Howard, SD to Raymond and Elizabeth (Rieff) Thelen. He attended school in Deer Creek, MN graduating in 1953. After high school he attended Brown Institute and earned his degree as an Electrical Engineer. He worked at IBM as a Field Engineer for 32 years, retiring in 1993.

On September 2, 1961 LeRoy married Janet Will in Minneapolis.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, the Elks Club, and Boy Scouts. LeRoy enjoyed woodworking and carving, fishing, hunting, and golfing.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Janet Thelen; parents, Raymond and Elizabeth Thelen; sister, Marilyn Koch, and brothers, Albert Thelen and Gerry Thelen.

LeRoy is survived by his children, Teresa (Bruce) Tester of West Fargo, Kristi (Bob) Schefter of Fergus Falls, and Scott Thelen of Sioux Falls; grandchildren, Zachary Thelen, Kaitlyn Thelen, and Alyssa Thelen; great-grandchildren, Gabriel Andring and Mallory Andring; sister, Janet Getchell of Florida, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Fergus Falls, with visitation one-hour prior to the Mass at the church.

Clergy: Father Lucho Palomino and Deacon Chuck Kampa

Interment: St. Otto's Catholic Cemetery, Fergus Falls
