Leone Ruth Formo, 82, a resident of Underwood, died Sunday, June 24, 2012 at her home, under the care of her family and Lakeland Hospice. She was born September 23, 1929, near Urbank in Nidaros Township of Otter Tail County, Minnesota, the daughter of Rudolf and Gertrude (Rieger) Johnson and the oldest of 11 children. She grew up on the farm. On July 2, 1948, she married Kenneth Formo in Fergus Falls. She worked as a waitress in her teens at the Hi-Way Inn Restaurant. Over the years she was employed as a production worker at Bunny Bread Bakery, as a seamstress at Rosenblatts, and for 14 years as an aide for the Fergus Falls school district until her retirement. She was a member of the Fergus Falls Eagles and VFW Auxiliaries, and served as a Cub Scout den mother. Leone enjoyed gardening, reading, playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, antiquing, and especially visiting with friends and family. She was always quick with a laugh and a smile. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Kenneth; her son, Craig; three brothers: David, Wallace, and Ronald; and two sisters, Mary Lou and Flavian. Survivors include two sons: Bernie (Patty) Formo of Underwood, and Tim Formo of Anchorage, AK; two grandchildren: Ben and Angie; three great-grandchildren: Brandon, Caleb, and Ava; her siblings: Rodney, Dennis, and Larry Johnson, Donna Stich, and Angie Pankratz; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
