Leonard "Leny" Lureen

Leonard L. Lureen, 75, of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND, surrounded by his family.

He was born July 22, 1940, in Walhalla, ND, the son of Elmer and Evelyn (Richotte) Lureen.

On August 7, 1962, he married Violet Jean LaFromboise in Sisseton, SD. He was an operator and laborer at Anderson Brothers, All Building Corp, Fergus Falls, retiring in 2002.

Leonard was a member of the Eagles. He enjoyed being with his grandkids, taking trips to the farm near Maplewood, scraping metal, and visiting with family and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors and working with his Bobcat. He always loved to help people and was concerned about others before himself.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Violet; parents, Elmer and Evelyn, a son, Elmer; a grandson, Christopher Johnson and sisters, Laura Fowler and Ida Helvick.

Survivors include his children, Sheila (Ray) of Fergus Falls, Mike of Fergus Falls, Misti (Randy) of Fergus Falls, and Ron (Deb) of Dodge Center; a son-in-law, Tom Schmidt of Fergus Falls; grandchildren, Cassie (Nile), Amy, Lacey (Chris), Katie, Creed, Tyler (Megan), Treton, Jazzmyn, Brianna, Cameron, Sarah (Charles), Josh (Rachael),Teresa and Annelise; great-grandchildren, Amiyah, Kierra, Raegan, Dermontae, Jacksen, Turo, Izak, Adryel, Gracie, Easton, Michael and Cole; sisters, Alma Goetzringer, Beverly Schunaman, Florence Lureen, Theresa Zach and Mavis (Neil) Scherriff; numerous nieces and nephews; a special friend, Peggy Waltz; and number one companion, Chief.

Visitation: 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., Friday, August 7, 2015, at the funeral home
Service: 2 p.m. Saturday, August 8, 2015, at the Olson Funeral Home Chapel
