Leonard C. Krause, 92, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Monday, November 18, 2013, at his home.
Leonard was born October 20, 1921 in Mantador, North Dakota, the son of Arthur and Meta (Rippie) Krause. He attended school in Mantador and Dwight, ND. He served in the United States Navy during World War II in the South Pacific on a submarine.
On May 8, 1946 he married Lila Daker in Breckenridge, MN. Through the years Leonard farmed and worked as a welder and plumber. He lived in Tintah, Breckenridge and Clitherall. In 1960 the family moved to Fergus Falls and resided there since. He worked for Fergus Plumbing, Kimber Awning and eventually owned his own business J & L Plumbing.
He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, the Eagles and a life member of the V.F.W., DAV and American Legion in Fergus Falls. He enjoyed painting, gardening, hunting, fishing, and his yard.
Preceding him in death were his parents; infant daughter, Evelyn; son, Gary; brothers, Elmer, Melvin, and Chester; sister, Lorraine Medenwaldt; and grandsons, Billy Krause and Leonard Gene Krause.
Survivors include his wife, Lila of Fergus Falls; children, Sharon Elsner of Alexandria, Karen Johnson of Battle Lake, Kevin (Marina) Krause of Moscow, Russia, and Jeffrey (Wendy) Krause of Fergus Falls; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brothers, Milton Krause of Fairmont, ND, and Loydale (Marcia) Krause of Breckenridge; and sister, Gloria Olson of Fergus Falls. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church.
