Leonard Cziok

Leonard Cziok, 86, a resident of Henning, died Wednesday, November 7, 2007, at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. He was born August 10, 1921 in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Michael and Minnie (Skuza) Cziok. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis. On February 21, 1944, he married Dorothy A. Fors at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Juneau, Alaska. He was employed by the Minneapolis Police Department, starting with the Department on February 1, 1948, and retired at the rank of Detective on September 5, 1968. Officer Cziok worked in the Traffic Divison, Morals Squad, and was assigned to the Chief's Detail. He also worked for the State of Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension as a training instructor. In 1978 he retired to the Henning and Elbow Lake areas. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Dorothy; and his sister, Lillian Swanson. Survivors include his daughter, Carol Jane Brunette and family; two sons: Joel Michael Cziok and family, and Jerry Robert Cziok and family; his brother, Lester (Marion) of Apple Valley, MN; a brother-in-law, Iner Swanson of Aurora, CO; two grandchildren, David and Sara; two great-grandchildren, Reese and Asher; his companion, Marian Theriault; and numerous nieces and nephews. God saw him getting tired and a cure was not to be, So He put His arms around him and whispered "Come with Me." With tearful hearts we watched him slowly fade away. Although we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.
