Leo M. Skramsted, 80, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, February 6, 2010 at his home under the care of Lakeland Hospice. He was born October 26, 1929, in Kensington, Minnesota, the son of Edward and Alice (Lindgren) Skramsted, the youngest of nine children. He attended school there, graduating from Kensington High School in 1947. On June 1, 1957, he married Bea Washtock at Our Lady of Victory Church in Fergus Falls. He worked for National Food Stores for 20 years. He became a manager at Staples and Fergus Falls, and then a district manager out of the Twin Cities area. He also worked for Groves Kelco, Mass Merchandisers, and McKesson Corporation as a salesman, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Eagles, and a life member of the Elks. He was also a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Leo and Bea spent winters in Alamo, Texas for 14 years. He enjoyed camping in the summer time. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching MN Vikings and Gopher football, MN Twins baseball, and both college and professional basketball. Preceding him in death were his parents, four brothers: Jesse, Bert, Verne, and Glen, two sisters: Lillian Thompson and Gladys Krienke, and two sisters-in-law: Helen Skramsted and Sue Washtock. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Bea Skramsted of Fergus Falls; two children: David Skramsted (special friend Mary) of St. Paul, and Lori (Jace) Gilbertson of Fergus Falls; three grandchildren: Justin (Nancy) Dohrer of Fargo, Jessica (Matt) Blake of Maple Grove, and Ryan Dohrer (Autumn) of Fargo; four great-grandchildren: Isiah, Carter, Camryn and Madden; a sister, Lucille Ogren of Rockford, IL; a brother, Roy Skramsted of Fergus Falls; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Skramsted of Fergus Falls; a brother-in-law, John (Carol) Washtock of Atkin; and eight nephews and three nieces. Memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association or Lakeland Hospice.
