Lawrence (Larry) Andrew Waasdorp, age 83, resident of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, December 31, 2017, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls due to complications of Alzheimer’s Disease.
Larry was born May 1, 1934, on the family farm in Foxhome to Andrew and Grace (Neuman) Waasdorp. Larry attended a one room country school house in Andrea township for the first 8 years of school and graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1952.
In 1957, Larry was drafted into the United States Army and honorably discharged in 1959 after spending a year and a half in Germany.
On May 14, 1960, Larry was united in marriage to Georgianna (Georgie) Merz at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Fergus Falls. The couple resided in Bismarck, ND and then returned to Fergus Falls. His sales career included years with Firestone, Montgomery Wards, Swanson Equipment and a few years as his own boss with the Merz potato company.
Larry was an active member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus where he was in charge of the Bingo program for many years. He was a member of the Eagles Club and the Fergus Falls Senior Center.
Larry enjoyed hunting and fishing for most of his life. Through the years, he enjoyed family camping, teaching the grandkids to fish and numerous trips to Branson, MO with Georgie.
Preceding him in death were his parents, and his son Tom in 1993.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Georgie; their three daughters and five grandchildren: Karla (Ralph Smith) of Eden Prairie, Sophia and Morgan, Jackie (Terry) Evavold of Sartell, Trevor and Greta, Jodi Eberhart of Chanhassen, Sydney; brother, Virgil (BJ) Waasdorp of Fergus Falls; brother-in- law/sister-in-law, Paul and Diane Schmidt; brother-in-law, Eldor Merz all of Fergus Falls; aunt, Alice Neuman of Breckenridge; as well as cousins, numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials suggested to the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls or Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church.

Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 2018, at Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls, with a 6:15 Rosary and 6:30 public prayer service, and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church
Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2018, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Fergus Falls
Clergy: Father Alan Wielinski
Interment: St. Otto’s Catholic Cemetery, Fergus Falls, MN
Military Participation: Fergus Falls V. F.W. Post 612 and American Legion Post 30
