Larry Richard Washek, 78, a resident of Underwood, died Friday, February 27, 2015, at his home.
He was born on December 29, 1936 in rural Underwood, Maine Township, the son of Leo and Dorothy (Kiser) Washek. Larry grew up in Maine Township and attended District 22 country school.
On October 13, 1956 Larry was united in marriage to Audrey Gaarsland at the St. James Catholic Church in rural Underwood.
Larry worked construction his entire career. He was a heavy equipment operator for numerous construction companies throughout Minnesota. He retired in 1988 due to some health issues.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Battle Lake.
Larry enjoyed the outdoors, where he liked hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed projects that involved his skidsteer and tractor. During earlier years, Larry loved to go dancing, play cards but most of all, be with his family and friends, entertaining and having fish fries at his home.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Robert and Willis; sister, Shirley Severson; two sons, Steven and Richard; grandson, Timothy Washek-Leitch.
Larry is survived by his children, Becky Cudmore of Casper, WY, Brenda Stewart of Wadena and Beth Lee of Fergus Falls; 13 grandchildren, Heidi, Tyler, Jason, Ashley, Jamie, Tessa, Randy, Kate, Tabitha, Tiffany, Alysa, Megan, Jordan; numerous great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jerald (Maureen) Washek of Underwood, Kenneth Washek of Henning; two sisters, Lillian Jacobson of Fergus Falls and Mary (Donald) Anderson of Bloomington.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2015 with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
Service: 11 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2015 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Battle Lake
