Larry Wahlstrom

Larry Kenneth Wahlstrom, 77, a resident of Fergus Falls, died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls.

Larry Wahlstrom, the son of Kenneth and Clarice Wahlstrom, was born in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, on November 27, 1946. He grew up in rural Erhard, MN, attending the local country school and later attending and graduating from Pelican Rapids High School.

In 1962, Larry met Connie Johnson at 4-H Leadership camp. They were married on June 3, 1967, and settled and continued to live in Orwell Township, where they raised their two sons.

Larry never stopped working. He began working on the family farm in Erhard and later worked in automotive service and gas stations, as a first responder in Fergus Falls and jailer with the sheriff's department, where he picked up the CB handle "Turn-Key." He built houses, pulled wire. He drove and serviced buses with MinnDakota coaches for years, driving school kids and tour groups across the country, befriending each group on his bus.

After retirement, he used his talent of compassionate listening at Olson Funeral Home.

Through all those jobs Larry's true love was working the land farming in Orwell Township. If the truth, he gave it to you. He didn't care for chicken or pretension.

With the love of his life Connie always by his side, Larry found joy in snowmobiles and motorcycles, woodworking, and chatting with friends and family which gave him a deeply fulfilling life.

Later, he found joy in the sunny climates of Mexico and Arizona, where he and Connie would spend the winter months during retirement.

Larry is survived by his soulmate, Connie (Johnson); two sons, Kyle (Katherine) Wahlstrom and Kirk (Martha) Wahlstrom; grandchildren Nicholas, Isaac, Jacob, Yali, Vivienne, and Augustine; siblings Carol (Jim) Sagerhorn, Dale (Diane) Wahlstrom, Linda (Arvid) Rensvold, and Don (Tammy) Wahlstrom; and eleven nieces and nephews who fondly and forever refer to him as Husband, Brother, Father, Uncle, and Neighbor and call him their best friend.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the organization of the donor's choice.

Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2024 at Augustana Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls with a visitation held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment: Bagstevold Cemetery, Erhard, MN
