Larry E. Griepentrog, 84, of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Lilac Homes Enhanced Assisted Living Memory Care in Dilworth, MN.
Larry Eugene Griepentrog was born June 17, 1939 to Earl and Doris (Schleske) Griepentrog in Fergus Falls. He attended country school in Elizabeth, MN until eighth grade and the Fergus Falls High School, graduating in 1957. He was a member of the Army National Guard from 1959-1965 and the Army Reserve.
His early life after graduation included farming and having a job at Mid America Dairy for several years. Larry then began working for the Otter Tail County Highway Department, retiring in 2002 after 30 years. After retirement, Larry drove courtesy car for Nelson Ford in Fergus Falls for several years.
On September 25, 1965, Larry married Verona (Kugler) Bell and had two daughters.
On June 21, 2003 Larry married Sylvia (Nelson) Field in Fergus Falls.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. He was the treasurer for 19 years for the Otter Country Trail Association. He was a member of the Classic Car Club of Fergus Falls, Fish Lake Rod and Gun Club, and Rough Riders.
Larry enjoyed gardening, woodworking, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, traveling, classic cars, farming, visiting, playing cards and games, puzzles, baking monster cookies, and chocolate.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Earl and Doris Griepentrog.
Larry is survived by his wife, Sylvia Gripentrog; his daughters, Lisa (Mike) Fronning, Kim (Brian) Holbrook, and Michelle (Kevin) Jarandson; grandchildren, Eric Murdoff, Kathryn (TJ) Tran, Kayla (Will) Haas, Nickolas Murdoff, Madison (fiancé, Lance Lee) Fronning, and Morgan Jarandson, and sister, Marge (Jon) Stephenson. Also surviving is Sylvia’s family, her children, Lyndon (LeAnn) Field, William (Karen) Field, John (Lisa) Field, Lori (Tom) Olson, and Jenny (John) Opheim; 14 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by countless friends.
Service: 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 2, 2023 at Zion Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls, MN, with visitation one-hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment: Central Lutheran Cemetery, rural Pelican Rapids, MN
