Lamont Henry

Lamont Love Henry, 86, a resident of Dilworth, MN, died Wednesday, September 19, 2007, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. He was born August 18, 1921, in Elkton Township, Clay County, Minnesota, the son of Lamont and Jessie (Lamb) Henry. He attended country school near Downer. He served for four years with the U.S. Army in London during WWII. On December 12, 1944 he married Esther Humphries in Liverpool, England. After the war he worked at Kost Brothers. In 1955 he began his own business, "Henry Brothers" in conjunction with his brother Ned Henry. He was president and operated "Henry Brothers" until his retirement in 1974. He was a lifetime member of the Moorhead VFW and American Legion, and was also a member of the Downer Conservation Club. Lamont was an avid gardener and hunter, and enjoyed playing golf. Preceding him in death were his mother and father, Jessie and Lamont Henry; his son, William Allen Henry, and his sisters: Liz Bondurant and Mildred Maynew. Survivors include his wife, Esther "Betts" Henry; his children: Gerald (Bonnie) Henry of Pelican Rapids, David (Diane) Henry of Pelican Rapids, James Henry of Moorhead, Steve (Char) Henry of Pelican Rapids, Beth (Mike) Mock of Squaw Valley, CA, and Larry (Gayle) Henry of Hawley; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; his brothers, Ned (Joyce) Henry of Cormorant Lake, David (Shirley) Henry of Pelican Rapids, and two sisters, Dorothy (Alfred) Lien of Barnesville and Betty Kramer of Henderson, NV.
