Kenwood Oliver Kolle, age 71, of Fergus Falls, died unexpectedly on Saturday, November 30, 2013, at his home.
Ken was born to Oliver and Irene (Duenow) Kolle on July 2, 1942 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at Rock Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Elbow Lake, MN. He graduated from Elbow Lake High School in 1960 and received a degree from Fergus Falls Community College. He married Rosemary Keller in 1964 and they had four children. He was employed for many years by Otter Tail Power Company at the Hoot Lake Plant.
He was a longtime member of the National Guard. In his retirement years, Ken took pride and joy in helping family and friends with a servant's heart. He was a man of many talents.
Known for his witty sense of humor, Ken had a story for every situation, or joke for everyone. Ken never missed a morning with friends at the "table of knowledge" at the Viking Cafe. An avid outdoorsman, Ken enjoyed hunting and ice fishing.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grand kids: attending their sporting events, their church programs, and their school activities. Grandpa Kolle especially enjoyed spending time at the lake with his kids and grandkids.
Kenwood spent the last week of his life on a family vacation in Arizona. He went horseback riding, hiking, and played cards with the grandkids.
We will greatly miss our dad and grandpa. He had a heart of gold. The legacy of our dad’s hardworking spirit and enjoyment for life will live on through his family. We love you Dad!
Preceding him in death were his parents, Oliver and Irene, and infant brother Jerome.
He is survived by his four daughters: Deborah (Brian) Cole of Moorhead, Pam (Brian) Heisler, Kim (Brad) Kelley both of Fargo, and Heather (Chad) Miller of Fergus Falls; grandchildren: Luke, Greta, and Ella Cole, Madison and Bailey Heisler, Brittney and Hannah Kelley, and Cooper, Quinn, and grand baby (due in March) Miller; siblings: Duane (Gerrie) Kolle of Richville, Beverly Anderson of Fergus Falls, Val Jean Keller of Fergus Falls, and Keith (Paula) Kolle of Fargo; along with numerous nephews and nieces and a host of friends.
