Kenrad Frank “Ken” Salzsieder, 84, of Fergus Falls died November 13, 2018, at his home.
Kenrad was born to Frank and Ethel (Pederson) Salzsieder on March 14, 1934. He grew up on a farm west of LaMoure, ND, and attended rural grade school graduating high school in 1952.
He entered the army in 1954 and served as a clerk typist in France during peace time. He was discharged in 1956. June 21, 1964, he was united in marriage to Leila Weatherbee in Jamestown, ND. After graduating from NDSU in 1967, they moved to Fergus Falls where he began working for the Federal Land Bank, which is now Ag Country, retiring in 1996. In 2003, they sold their country home and moved into town.
He was a member of the Otter Risers Kiwanis and Bethlehem Church. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing cards, watching Bison football, playing with his grandkids and coffee at the Viking Café.
Kenrad is survived by his wife, Leila; four children, Karl of Fergus Falls, Larry of Fargo, ND, Karen (Jorge) Jimenez of LeMars, IA, Lynn (Darla) of St. Michael, MN; six grandchildren, Nicole Daugherty, Jessica, Jorge and Jordan Jimenez, Dylan and Ethan Salzsieder; two great-grandchilden, Luna Benigno and Sage Jimenez-Forman; sister, Joan (Eric) Dunkley of New South Wales, Australia; brother, John (Susan) of Helena, MT.
Preceding him in death were his parents; sisters, Ruth Thomas and Lois Salzsieder; grandchildren, Sara and Levi Daugherty.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church
Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2018, Bethlehem
