Kenneth Stender, 87, of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at his residence under the care of Moments Hospice.
Kenneth Carl was born January 19, 1936 to Charles and Mathilda (Trick) Stender in Dent, MN. At the age of 13, the family moved to Elizabeth where they bought a farm. He worked there until joining the United States Army. Ken was stationed at Fort Carson and Fort Leonard Wood and was an M.P. Upon his discharge, he returned to Elizabeth, working for various farmers, the Elizabeth Creamery, and retired from Mid-Am Dairy.
On April 10, 1965, Ken married Diana Whirley in Grand Rapids. The couple made their home in Rothsay, then Elizabeth, and later Fergus Falls.
He loved mowing lawn, fishing, and the MN Twins and Vikings. He adored his grandchildren. Ken was a member of St. John Church.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Diana Stender; his parents, Charles and Mathilda Stender; sisters, Gladys (Kenneth) Elbering, Charlotte Johnson, Lila (Victor) Rosenow, Margaret (Glen) Laugen, and Carol (Arnold) Nord, and brothers, Charles Jr. (Helen) Stender, Clem (Betty) Stender, and Lloyd Stender; brothers-in-law, Jerome Haldorson and Lyle Uhlig; son-in-law, Charles Weber III.
Ken is survived by his daughters, Michelle (Faron) Pederson, Kristine, Carla Stender; son, Keith (Nancy); grandchildren, Amanda (Mike) Langseth, Joseph Pederson, Cassandra (Ben) DeBoer, Zachary Stender, Samantha (Sam) Sullins, Tabitha Stender, Andrew Stender, Abbey McCann, Steven McCann, Isabella (Dan) Deppa, and Grace Weber; great-grandchildren, Logan, Ethan, and Ryan Langseth, Olivia and Beckett DeBoer, Reagan and Jordan Arjara and Delaney Deppa; sisters, Joyce Uhlig of Fergus Falls, Betty Haldorson of Duluth, and numerous nieces, nephews and many other family members.
Service: 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls, with visitation one-hour prior to the service.
