Kenneth Leroy Eschendal, 82, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, October 26, 2017, at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls.
Kenneth was the second son born to Ernest and Sophia (Frey) Eschendal. He was born on September 25,1935, in Lake Benton, MN.
When he was 10 years old he spent many happy years on his uncle Henry Frey’s farm. In the early 1980’s he moved into his own apartment in Fergus Falls, MN, where he lived the remainder of his life. He worked at the Sandpiper restaurant until he retired at the age of 65.
It was in Fergus Falls that he was contacted by Mike Kramer and began to study the Bible with him. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on December 29, 1984. He never wavered in his faith and love for Jehovah. He was comforted by the words of Psalm 91:4 knowing that he was protected under the ‘wings’ of his God. He loved sharing his scriptural hope with others and was rarely missing from meetings with his spiritual family.
Kenny went to New York in the late 70’s to participate in the Special Olympics. Kenny enjoyed bowling, photography, assembling toy models, watching movies, and collecting toy farm equipment. His favorite tractor was a John Deere which he often referred to as a ‘Poppin’ Johnnie’.
He always had a smile and a model attitude in life. He loved the children in his local congregation. His sense of humor was always on display, and his ‘cackling’ laugh will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his sister, Debbie; brothers, Joe and Gene; nephews and nieces, and many friends.
