Kenneth Edward Dahl

Kenneth Edward Dahl, age 77, of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls.

Kenneth was born on May 11, 1938, to Albin and Gunda (Ostrum) Dahl in Fergus Falls. He was baptized and confirmed at Augustana Lutheran Church in Elizabeth. He lived near Elizabeth and attended school in Districts 36, 37, and 61, and then attended Washington High School in Fergus Falls through his sophomore year, when he had to leave school due to health problems.

In 1960, Kenneth moved to Minneapolis and worked at Allen Engineering and a nursing home, doing maintenance work. In 1971, he returned to Fergus Falls and starting doing maintenance work at the Otter Tail County Courthouse, retiring in 1996, after twenty-five years.

Kenneth never married, but he supported the Christian Children’s Fund for years, so he helped make the lives of many children in Mexico easier. He volunteered at PioneerCare and the Salvation Army, and was also an active member of the Fergus Falls Senior Citizens Center.

Kenneth enjoyed going to the M&H gas station and Barringer’s Coffee House to meet and visit with his friends. His friend, Father Bill Gamber, always looked out for him while he lived at the River Inn Apartments. He enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins and the Fargo Red Hawks and traveled to Florida for many years to watch the Twins in spring training. He also attended many Twins games in Minneapolis and in the last few years he has enjoyed going to Fargo to watch the Red Hawks.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albin and Gunda Dahl; a sister, Genevieve Marquard; and a brother-in-law, Arvid Gunderson.

Kenneth is survived by his nephew, Eric Gunderson (Gregg VanGinhoven) of Fergus Falls; numerous cousins; and many, many friends.

Visitation: 4:00-5:00 PM on Sunday, March 20, 2016, at the Olson Funeral Home with a prayer service at 5:00 PM. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at PioneerCare.
