Katrina Matthews-Moore

March 12, 1959 — December 6, 2022

Katrina Y. Matthews-Moore, age 63, resident of Fargo, North Dakota, died on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at her home; surrounded by her family, under the care of Hospice; after a long illness.

Katrina Yvonne Matthews-Moore was born on March 12, 1959 in Montgomery, Alabama to Margaret A. Templin and Clive R. Barganier. She was baptized at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church. She attended Holtville High in Elmore, Alabama and graduated in 1977. During school she worked as a candy striper at MerryWood Lodge in Elmore, Alabama.

She married Carl Matthews in 1977 and had three children: Otis, James, and Jennifer Matthews. She met Shane Moore in 1990 and they married in 2001. They had two daughters, Katie Moore, and Tammy (Moore) Kerry. She also adopted Rachel Grundyson in 1999.

Katrina moved from Prattville, Alabama to Dilworth, Minnesota in 1997. She and Shane bought a house in Fargo, ND in 2005. In 2014 she returned to Alabama, after her children were grown and moved out.

Katrina took over her mother’s cleaning business from 1996 to 2001. She was a long-term McDonalds employee, where she worked for 10 years.

Katrina was a working, but devoted, mother. She loved her children and grandchildren; and enjoyed spending every minute with them that she could. Katrina proudly supported her children in sports. She knew never to take life too seriously; and her smile and laugh were contagious. Katrina had a larger-than-life personality, and made her thoughts clearly known! There are also the countless friends she made through her life that now considers her family; people that she helped in every way she could, including welcoming them into her home; she did not judge anyone for the life they had lived. She was well known for her large and generous heart.

Katrina enjoyed volunteering at her local church, she loved shopping and garage-saling looking for unique “treasures.” She had a passion for art projects and fishing. Katrina would go fishing every single day if she could! She also had a passion for old western movies and country music.

Katrina is survived by: her brothers and sisters: Bruce (Tracy) Bargainer of Fargo, and Tracie Waddell, Tara (Roy) Hauer, and Conny Brown, all of Alabama; her sons James and Otis Matthews of Fargo, and daughters Tammy (Moore) Kerry and Katie Moore also of Fargo; and 11 grandchildren: Donovan Olson, Brennden Handson-Springer, Nora Whitcomb, Emma Matthews-Whitcomb, Anrianna Loehr, Connor Matthews, Isis Martin, Allie Juaire, Noah Kerry, Jasmine Grundyson, and Phoenix Hunt.

Preceding Katrina in death were her parents, eldest daughter Jennifer Matthews, sister Francis (Claude) Wade, and adopted daughter Rachel (Grundyson) Hunt.
