Kathryn M. Olson, 100, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, August 3, 2010, at her home under the care of Lakeland Hospice. She was born March 27, 1910, near Rowley, Iowa, the daughter of Warren and Ethel (Grover) Junkins. At the age of two she and her parents moved to a farm near Hartland, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Hartland Lutheran Church. Kathryn spent 45 years in the field of Education where she was especially interested in working with children with reading problems. On March 25, 1961, she was married to Harvey O. Olson and moved to Fergus Falls. She was a member of Tingvold Lutheran Church and later Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, a seven year old brother, Austin, and a stepson, Lyle E. Olson. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Audrey (Oliver) Harrison of Fergus Falls; two grandsons, Mark (Julie) Olson of Jamestown, ND, and Jay (Tami) Olson of Alexandria, MN; ten great-grandchildren: Jeremiah (Rebekah) of Underwood, Michelle Giese of Minneapolis, Joshua (Sara) of Lincoln, ND, Marissa of Jamestown, Nicholas (Alyssa) of Minneapolis, Benjamin and Amanda of Battle Lake, Ashley and Krystal of Alexandria, and Danielle of Willmar; five great-great-grandchildren, Naomi, Abby, Lydia, Carter and Timothy; Oliver’s family: April and Mark Foster of Jackson, MS, and their children Tristan and Mary Grace; two Godchildren, Kathryn Knudson of Minneapolis and Kristen Christianson of Fergus Falls; and many dear friends in Albert Lea, Hartland, and Fergus Falls.
