Kathryn Ann Mattson, 67, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at her home, under the care of her family and Lakeland Hospice. She was born July 17, 1945, in Duluth, Minnesota, the daughter of Carl and Helmi (Maunu) Jackson. In 1949 the family moved to Roseau, and she graduated from Roseau High School in 1963. She married David Mattson in 1963. They lived in Roseau, Thief River Falls, and Moorhead before moving to Fergus Falls in 1984. Kathy completed her RN coursework at the Fergus Falls Community College in 1995 and found her true calling. She was employed at the Broen Home, the Elbow Lake Hospital, and then at Lake Region Healthcare. Throughout her career, she enjoyed working alongside other nurses as they delivered patient centered care, making a difference in the lives of their patients. Kathy enjoyed being at the lake, cherished spending time with her family, and following her grandchildren's activities. She was a member of First Lutheran Church. Preceding her in death were her parents, and a niece, Carlene Jackson. Survivors include two daughters: Debra (Dave) Swanberg, and Melissa Mattson; two sons: Kent (Nancy) Mattson, and Luke Mattson; seven grandchildren: Amanda, Samantha, Brianna, Jack, Joe, Tom, and Elizabeth; three great-grandchildren: Jayden, Kali, and Laila; two brothers: Richard (Audrey) Jackson, and Curt (Mary Jo) Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews.  There will be a gathering of friends and family from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2012, at First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls Clergy: Reverend Saul Stensvaag Interment: Hope Cemetery, Roseau, Minnesota Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls is in charge of the arrangements.
