Kathryn “Kathy” Rose Lindquist, age 78, earned her angel wings and devil horns on Thursday, September 14, 2023 in the Memory Care Unit at Park Gardens in Fergus Falls, MN with family by her side.
She was born November 23, 1944 to Ken and Thelma (Thompson) Kalsow in Dawson, MN. By age two they moved to Fergus Falls. She attended Adams Elementary, Jefferson High School and the Fergus Falls Senior High School, graduating in 1963. She attended Sunday School and was confirmed through Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.
After high school she worked as a switchboard operator at the telephone company, Medallion Kitchens, and the Elks as a server, and put herself through beauty school. Kathy was a beautician for over 40 years.
On August 14, 1976, she married Harry W. Lindquist Jr. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls and moved to the Lindquist farm of rural Fergus Falls. After selling the milk cows and chores not being as demanding, she worked at the Farmer’s Deli in Underwood, delivered the Sunday Star Tribune with Ike Bader, Patricia Drewlow, and Todd Whaley. She also worked for New Dimensions Healthcare cleaning houses and apartments for the elderly.
In her spare time, she enjoyed watching and feeding the wildlife such as deer, squirrels, chipmunks, birds, farm cats, and the occasional skunk and raccoon that would come and steal the dry cat food. She also loved to get together at Country Kitchen, Debbie’s Kitchen, Underwood Café, and Dalton Café for coffee and laughs with her friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ken and Thelma Kalsow; both sets of grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.
Kathy is survived by her husband of 47 years, Harry W. Lindquist Jr. and their cat, Missy of rural Fergus Falls; daughter, Tara Lindquist of Dalton; granddaughter, Kaicie Lindquist of Fergus Falls; several cousins; numerous “adopted” kids acquired throughout the years (you know who you are), and all of her Halloween kids and grandkids.
She has asked for no formal funeral and that casual dress is wanted. Feel free to wear blue jeans, shorts, cowboy boots, work boots, tennis shoes, wildlife t-shirts, and baseball or cowboy hats. She said she will haunt whoever doesn’t follow this dress code.
In lieu of flowers, she has asked for small potted plants, succulent/cactus plants, or memorials can be made to the Cancer Center in Fergus Falls or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Visitation: 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls, with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m.
