Kathryn Dorothy Anderson, 84, formerly of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, March 15, 2009, at Diamond Willow Assisted Living Facility in Alexandria, Minnesota. She was born August 16, 1924, in Wegdahl, Minnesota, the daughter of Nels Olson and Alvina K. (Remmen) Sletten. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo. She graduated from Central High School in Montevideo, Minnesota in 1942. On October 26, 1952, she married Merril L. Anderson at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo. She began working for Kief and Kief Attorneys in 1942, working there until 1952. She then raised her children and worked many years at Clarkfield Lutheran Church as their secretary. She was then employed at Rufer Law Office from 1969 to 1975, and the State of Minnesota from 1975 to 1987, when she retired.  Kathryn was a member of VFW Post 612 Auxiliary. She enjoyed baking, being especially known for her tasty homemade buns and cookies that she shared with Lakeland Hospice. She also enjoyed fishing with Merril. They spent 15 winters in Mesa, Arizona after their retirement. Preceding her in death were her husband, Merril, on October 16, 2006; her brother, Bob Sletten in 1995; her mother, Alvina Sletten in 1978; and her father, Nels Sletten in 1956. Survivors include her children: Marilyn (Steve) Boushley of Alexandria, Marti (Doug) Nieland of New London, Richard Anderson and fiancee Sue of Holcombe, Wisconsin, Karen (Scott) Collins of Bismarck, North Dakota, and Julie (Drew) Rousu of Lino Lakes; her grandchildren: Melanie (Chris) Cornejo and Christy (Kevin) Schreifels, David (Leah) Nieland, Chad (Larissa) Nieland and Derrick (Stacy) Nieland, Jamie Anderson and Christopher (Dana) Anderson, Chasidy Anderson, Craig and Amy Collins, and Jordan Rousu; a step-grandchild, Taylor Smith; and her great-grandchildren: Mason, Andrew, Ellie, Hannah and Rayya Nieland, Kaitlyn, Steven and Jacob Schreifels, and Drake, Teagan and Skylar Anderson. Memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, Lakeland Hospice in Fergus Falls, and the Douglas County Public Health Hospice in Alexandria. There will be a time to visit with family and friends one hour prior to the service at the church. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls with Reverend Saul Stensvaag officiating. Interment will be at First Lutheran North Cemetery. Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls is in charge of arrangements.  Condolences may be sent online at www.olsonfuneralhome.com
