Kathleen Hope Haugen, 57, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, June 3, 2010, at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls. She was born February 5, 1953, in Starbuck, Minnesota, the daughter of Palmer and Helen (Moe) Haugen. She grew up in Belgrade, Glenwood, Fargo, and Osseo, where she graduated from high school in 1971. Kathleen was a secretary in Minneapolis, moving to Lucan, MN in 1982, where she worked as an office manager for Chassis Liner Corporation. In 1990 she began working at Walmart at the Alexandria and Marshall stores. In 2006 she moved to Fergus Falls to be near her family. She loved playing cards and knitting, and was a great cook and baker. She adored her pet Chihuahua named “Miss Toaster Streudel”. Kathleen was formerly a member of the Red Hat Society. Preceding her in death were her parents and a sister, Treva Benton. Survivors include her son, Peter (Emilyn) Haugen of Fergus Falls; two grandchildren, Maezyn and Zairek; three sisters: Pauline (David) Hoffman of Glenwood, Ginny Cahoon of Clear Lake, IA, and Sonia Byrd of Nashville, TN; a brother, Peter Q. (Darla) Haugen of New Hope; a brother-in-law, David K. Benton of Glenwood; along with numerous nieces and nephews, and three special friends, Christine, Sandy and Gwen.
