Karin Johnson

Karin Joy (Haagenson) Johnson, 53, a resident of Fergus Falls, lost her courageous battle with cancer Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls surrounded by her loving family. Karin was born October 11, 1955 at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls to Ruby and Russell Haagenson. She attended Madison Elementary School, Fergus Falls Junior High and graduated in 1974 from Fergus Falls Senior High School. She then attended Fergus Falls Community College and earned a Medical Secretary certificate in 1975. She enjoyed playing drums during her high school years and was a member of the Fergus Falls High School marching band, where she met Steve Johnson. They were married on September 3, 1977 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. Karin and Steve were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Abby Joy and Kristina Beth. They were the light of her life. She enjoyed living on the family farm during her growing up years and especially enjoyed riding her horse, Carmen, with her dad. She took an interest in embroidery at a young age after her introduction to sewing in Junior High. She made some of her own clothes and in later years made clothing and Halloween costumes for her daughters. She later made several beautiful quilts. Karin enjoyed working in her flower beds and took pride in decorating her home. She liked shopping and was very organized and efficient. She was kind, loving, considerate, compassionate, caring, pleasant, reliable and hard working. She could often do the work of two people. She was always thinking about others first and putting herself last. She was an excellent mother. Karin was an amazing human being. Karin enjoyed working as a Medical Transcriptionist in the Radiology department at Lake Region Healthcare for 33 years, and was highly respected and very much loved by her co-workers and doctors. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Steve; daughters Abby of Detroit, MI, and Tina, of Minnetonka, MN; mother, Ruby Haagenson of Fergus Falls; brother, Lynn (Mary Waller) Haagenson of Fergus Falls; sister LuAnn (Peter) Dehne of Brooklyn Park, MN; parents-in-law Donna and Vern Johnson of Fergus Falls; brother-in-law Dan (Pat) Johnson; sisters-in-law Julie (Jeff) Westerberg, and Jennifer (Dave) Lider; nieces Alyssa and Kelsey Dehne, Sydney Lider and Rachel Busko; and nephews Nate and Shane Westerberg, and Sam Busko. Karin was preceded in death by her father, Russell Haagenson, and grandparents Nellie & Melvin Haagenson, and Lilly and Roy Olson.  Visitation:  5-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5 at the funeral home and resumes one hour prior to the  service at the church Service for the Celebration of Karin’s Life: 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 102 W.
