Karen Pourrier

Karen Pourrier, 44, a resident of rural Fergus Falls, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2009, due to an automobile accident near Winston, Oregon. Karen Kay Duenow was born April 7, 1965, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Melvin and Deloris Kowalski Duenow. She grew up in Fergus Falls. Karen was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Fergus Falls. She attended the Fergus Falls High School. On November 6, 1982, she married Scott Pourrier. She worked at several places including West Central Turkeys, the Rothsay Truck Stop, and Goodwill, and was currently employed at the Fergus Falls Pizza Hut where she received many MVP awards of the month. Karen loved helping everyone. She enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, decorating, and loved the outdoors and her animals. Karen loved helping with the Special Olympics. Her greatest accomplishment that she did for her families was to be a part of the Adopt-a-Highway program, in memory of the Duenow/Kowalski families on Highway 10 and in memory of Douglas Wiese Jr. on Highway 27. Signs were placed and she made sure that the road ditches were cleaned both spring and fall. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends, and especially with her dog, Spike, who was her pride and joy. Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Ben and Hattie Kowalski, and Herman and Francis Duenow, several uncles and aunts, and a special cousin, Marty Kowalski. Survivors include her two children: son, Ryan and special friend, Tiffany, and soon-to-be granddaughter of Brainerd, Minnesota, and daughter, Chastidy and special friend, Bill Kugler, of Erhard, Minnesota; her parents, Melvin and Deloris Duenow of rural Fergus Falls; a brother, Mitch (Joyce) Duenow of Fargo, ND; two sisters: Vicky (Randy) Arntson of Pelican Rapids, and Kristi (Michael) Beeler of St. Stephen, MN; and the love of her life, Micha Wiese of rural Erhard, MN. Additional survivors include numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, many good friends, and her dog, Spike.
