Karan Elaine Johnson, age 66, of Erhard, died Friday, April 29, 2016, at the Broen Home in Fergus Falls.
Karan was born on December 30, 1949, in Ortonville to Ernest E. and Audry (Hanson) Johnson. She graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1968 and then attended nursing school in Fergus Falls, graduating as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1971.
On May 15, 2001, she was married to Scott Leroy Meder in Erhard. She worked as a LPN at Fergus Falls Medical Center from 1971 to 1973, as an optician at Benson’s Optical from 1974 to 1983, as an office specialist at Southern Hills Developmental Services from 1983 to 1992, as an optician at Bloomquist and Bakewell from 1992 to 1994, as an office manager at Henry Builders from 1994 to 1997, as an office support specialist at Coopers Office Supply from 1997 to 2001, and lastly at Otter Tail County Human Services as an office support specialist from 2001 until her retirement on April 16, 2016.
One of Karan’s greatest joys was spending time with all of her grandchildren. She was a member of the Lioness Club and enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing, going to rummage sales and auctions, flea marketing, cross-stitching, reading and classic movies.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Audry Johnson; and a brother-in-law, Arlan Erickson.
Karan is survived by her husband, Scott Meder of Erhard; her sons, Christopher (Sandy) Schoon of Blaine and Jess (Melissa) Schoon of Fergus Falls; her grandchildren, Caitlyn, Jace, Hannah, Jackson and Logan; her siblings, Kathy Swenson, Kermit (Carol) Johnson, Kevin (Wendy) Johnson and Kay Schmidt; other family members including, Mary Meder, Bruce and Linda Meder; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and her godchildren, Kirsten Monson and John Schoon.
