Junior Lowell Hinrichs, 91, a resident of Elbow Lake, died Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at the Barrett Care Center in Barrett.
Lowell was born on July 25, 1925, in Campbell, the son of August and Opal (Hocking) Hinrichs. He graduated from Campbell High School in 1943.
On September 20, 1947, he married Dorothy Pedersen in Fergus Falls. The couple moved to Elbow Lake in 1955.
Lowell was employed at the Olson Furniture Store in Fergus Falls, Hanson Brothers Dairy Farm, O & M Elevators and A&F Implement all in Elbow Lake, and the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier until his retirement in 2001.
He was a member of the Lions Club in Wendell, the Elks of Fergus Falls, and United Lutheran Church where he volunteered as a Sunday school teacher.
Lowell enjoyed working in his yard, stock car racing, slow-pitch softball, which he played until the age of 57, watching Minnesota sports, especially the Twins, Vikings, and Gophers, as well as watching all high school sports.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy in 2004; brothers, Gordon, Gene, and Harland; and his sisters, Donna and Ida.
Survivors include his children, Steven (Joretta) Hinrichs of Long Prairie, Renee Hinrichs of Sauk Centre, and Bradley (Brenda) Hinrichs of Long Prairie; two grandsons, Steven, and Michael (Jackie); and three great-granddaughters, Taylor, Torii, and Tenley.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Friday June 2, 2017 with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service at the United Lutheran Church in Elbow Lake and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 1 p.m. Saturday June 3, 2017 at United Lutheran Church, Elbow Lake

Interment: There will be a private family interment at a later date
