Julius “Bud” Mobraten, 83, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, March 2, 2014, at the Minnesota Veterans Home.
He was born February 18, 1931, in Carlisle, Minnesota to J.P. and Frances (Houg) Mobraten. He grew up on the family farm and later attended Fergus Falls High School.
Bud was drafted to the United States Army serving during the Korean War and was stationed at Fort Meade and Fort Bliss.
On September 5, 1953, he was united in marriage to Florence E. Nelson at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.
He farmed near Carlisle until 1984 and drove a milk truck for many years. Bud was also employed by Medallion Kitchens and the Elizabeth Creamery. He was a resident of the MN Veterans Home in Fergus Falls for 11-1/2 years.
Bud was active in 4H as a member, 4H leader and as a 4H softball coach, and was Secretary of the Fergus Creamery Board. He was an active member of Hedemarken Lutheran Church, serving several offices on the church council and also sang in their choir.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a great supporter of all of his children’s school and sports activities. Bud especially enjoyed Minnesota sports teams.
Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Anna Johnson; brother, Arthur Mobraten; brothers-in-law, William Johnson, Leland Anderson, Gene Dufty and Vince Svare; sister-in-law, LaDelle Walsh.
Bud is survived by his wife, Florence of Fergus Falls; children, Mike (Jeanne) Mobraten of Hager City, WI, Kristine (David) Erlandson of Cosmos, MN, Lucia (Harold) Orcutt of Eden Prairie, Tom (Candance) Mobraten of Breckenridge, Bruce Mobraten of Minnetonka, and Neal Mobraten of Hastings; grandchildren, Melissa (Jeremy) Eckhoff, Jason (Sarah) Mobraten, Jordan Mobraten, Missy Phillips, Nick (Becky) Phillips, Sam (Nicci) Phillips, Yena Phillips, Ben (Janna) Erlandson, Andrew (Melissa) Erlandson, Alex Orcutt, Adam Orcutt; Cassie (Billy) Brynteson, Corey Mobraten, Samantha Mobraten, TJ Mobraten, Rick Freeman, Jimmy Freeman, Macae Mobraten, and Max Mobraten; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Florence Dufty of Willmar, Genevieve Svare of Ada, Phyllis Anderson of Fergus Falls, and Marie (Paul) Torgerson of Princeton; brother, Dave (Nancy) Mobraten of Fairbanks, Alaska; brothers-in-law, Kenneth (Phyl) Nelson of New Hope, and Donald (Char) Nelson of Park Rapids. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 5-8 pm Friday at Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls and one hour prior to the service at the church
