Julie Sue Jimmerson, 62, lifelong resident of Fergus Falls, passed away on February 10, 2016, at Lake Region Hospital.
Julie was born at Lake Region Hospital on March 17, 1953. She attended elementary and junior High schools in Fergus Falls and graduated from Fergus Falls Senior High School in 1971.
Throughout her adult life Julie enjoyed a career in various retail settings in Fergus Falls. Working at the Hallmark store and other stores allowed Julie to meet, and get to know many residents of the community, where her friendly smile and willingness to help touched all who knew her.
Julie’s love of the card and gift business blended well with her avid letter writing to many life-long international pen pals. After retiring, she volunteered at the Lake Region Hospital gift shop. Julie was a devoted companion and caregiver to her mother, Minerva, until she passed away in 2005.
Julie was a gifted writer, and her family and friends will treasure her annual clever Christmas poem included in her cards each year. Knitting and crocheting were a favorite hobby and many heads, hands, and hearts have been warmed over the years by Julie’s hand-knit hats, scarves and mittens.
Julie was a member of First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, where she sang in choir from childhood through adulthood, and she enjoyed singing four-part harmony with her sisters.
Julie was preceded in death by her father and mother, P.W. “Wes”, and Minerva Jimmerson, sister, Michelle (Rolf) Hovelsrud, and brother, Ned (Mary) Jimmerson.
Julie is survived by sisters, Bonnie Jimmerson of Aurora, CO., Betsy (Paul) Muehlhausen of Missoula, MT, along with cherished nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law, aunts and cousins.
Julie’s family would like to thank Patricia Wilkinson and Sue Balken of Fergus Falls, the staff of Lake Region Healthcare and Pioneer Care in Fergus Falls, and Essentia Healthcare in Fargo, ND, for their care and concern during her time of illness.
A memorial service for Julie will be hosted by her sisters in Fergus Falls in May 21, 2016, when all family members can attend. More details will follow, closer to the time of the event. Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls is handling her arrangements.
Memorials may be sent to The Fergus Falls Community Food Shelf, 1512 First Avenue North, Fergus Falls, MN 56537.
