Julie Henderson, 69, of Fergus Falls, died on Friday, March 15, 2024 at Woodland Lodge in Fergus Falls.
Julie Annette Henderson was born June 18, 1954 in Fergus Falls, the daughter of Dean and Mavis (Graff) Henderson. She graduated from Crookston Central High School in 1972. After high school she attended the U of M Crookston and Moorhead State University, earning her Bachelor's Degree.
She never married; her extended family was her family.
Julie worked as a potato picker, where she earned the nickname "PQ." She was employed by Lake Park Wild Rice Children's Home - Lutheran Social Services, LSS in Bloomington, and Catholic Charities Intensive Treatment Center in Fergus Falls, retiring after many years of service.
She was very active in the church, serving as youth director. She served many soup and sandwich suppers. Julie was also the Mayor of Dalton, serving for a couple terms.
Julie loved to play Bingo and pull tabs. She enjoyed making Special K bars and bringing them to special family gatherings. Julie loved to travel, especially with her high school friends JJ and Vicki over the years. She also enjoyed attending sporting events, especially watching family.
Julie loved her family with her whole heart. She had a great sense of humor and was very quick witted.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Dean and Mavis Henderson; sisters, Peggy Olson and Debby Gunderson, and brothers-in-law, Charles Swendsrud and Allen Ricks.
Julie is survived by her sisters, Joan Swendsrud and Jeri Ricks; brothers-in-law, Chuck Olson and Glen Gunderson; nieces and nephews, Heidi (Paul) Hoff, Peter (Jill) Swendsrud, Susan (Bob) Thormodson, Tony (Amy) Swendsrud, Kim (Mark) Metcalfe, Heather (Jim) Saunders, Dena (Brandon) Barker, Darin (Katie) Gunderson, Craig (Trish) Olson, Danette (Paul) DeCock, Kelly (Jeff) Peterson, Lance (Molly) Ricks, and Blake (Justine) Ricks; great-nieces and great-nephews, Nick (Carissa) Heeter, Lauren (Bryce) Bernu, Lucas (Kelli) Heeter, Logan (Kaylee) Swendsrud, Jacob and Isaac Swendsrud, Megan (Zack) Drechsel, Greta Thormodson, Adam (Tierza) Thormodson, Allison Foster, Ashley (Mike) Perault, Derek (Lindsay) Metcalfe, Taylor (Tanner) Eckhart, Erin and Jack Saunders, Tucker and Max Olson, Brady, Hannah and Ben Barker, Griffin and Sawyer Gunderson, Nathan and Grant Peterson, Remi, Rory, and Cliff Ricks, Foster and Mavis Ricks; great-great-nieces and nephews, Jack and Ruby Heeter, Charlotte, Sophie, and Brooks Heeter, Anna and Beau Bernu, Amelia and Alexander Drechsel, Trace Thormodson, Brooks and Collins Perault. Julie had two very special high school friends that she loved like family, JJ (John) Meyer and Vicki Melbye. They had many great adventures together. Julie is also survived by many cousins and friends. She grew up with four sisters and now there are two. She will be missed. She was our sister and my very best friend.
Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2024 at Olson Funeral and Cremation in Fergus Falls, with visitation one-hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Interment: Ten Mile Cemetery, Dalton, MN
