Joyce Elaine Knodle, 74, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Monday, September 29th at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls.
She was born April 28, 1940 to Ole and Anna Karlstad of Wendell. She was baptized and confirmed at the Wendell Trinity Lutheran Church and attended school there.
On August 11, 1936 she married David Messerschmidt, to this union, seven children were born. She later divorced and moved to Fergus Falls, where she lived out the remainder of her life.
Joyce loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed flowers, watching the birds and animals. She also loved playing card games whenever she had a chance. Joyce was known for her funny sense of humor and was loved by all who came to know her.
Preceding her in death were her parents; son, Ronald John Messerschmidt, two sisters, Peggy Norby and Kathy Watne; brother, Duwane Karlstad and the love of her life, Eugene Schmidt.
Joyce is survived by her children, Richard (Estephina) Messerschmidt of Apply Valley, Terri (Tim) Stein of Aberdeen, SD, Kevin Messerschmidt of Wendell, Todd (Jo) Messerschmidt of Wendell, Tracee Messerschmidt of Rothsay, Tricia LaCoursiere of Detroit Lakes; ten grandchildren;Jessica (Brandon) Piatt, Troy (Kayla) Paetow, Monica Piatt, Ashley and Cole Messerschmidt, Tessa Messerschmidt, Kasey Krogen, Callista, Shania and Gage LaCoursiere, and nine great grandchildren; Noah, Jenasis, Tyler, Gianna, Mason, Brickson, Lily, Page and Syrianna.
