Joseph Stanley Sedivy, 97, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Friday, January 21, 2011, at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls. He was born June 26, 1913, in Vesleyville, North Dakota, the son of Joseph E. and Constance (Stanek) Sedivy. The family moved to Lidgerwood, North Dakota in 1915. He attended St. Boniface School, and Lidgerwood High School, graduating in 1931. He furthered his education at Wahpeton State School of Science from 1934 - 1935. Joe was the manager of Psharne McMillian Elevator in Lidgerwood, ND. He then attended the University of North Dakota, where he was in the Communications Department of the United State Army Signal Corps from 1942 - 1943. In 1942 he was united in marriage to Ruby Wampler. In 1943 he enlisted in the United States Army at Fort Snelling, Minnesota, and was stationed at Camp Kahler and the University of Davis, California. Joe served in the South Pacific Theater from 1943 -1946. The family lived in Barney, North Dakota for a short time. In 1950 they moved to Moorhead, Minnesota. There Joe was Office Manager for Kvamme Construction Company from 1953 - 1969. He later was Auditor for the State of Minnesota. The family retired to their Pickerel Lake home near Richville, Minnesota in 1978. He was currently a resident of the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls. Joe was a member of Maine Presbyterian Church, the D.A.V. (Disabled American Veterans), the V.F.W., and the Elks Lodge. Preceding him in death were his parents. Survivors include his wife, Ruby, of Fergus Falls; two sons: J. Gregory (Colleen) of Prior Lake, and Jeffrey (Sandra) of Pickerel Lake; four granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter. Joe's family is very appreciative of the wonderful care he received while at the Vets Home and Lake Region Hospital.
