Jon Edward Raw, 75, a resident of Rothsay, MN, died Sunday, February 18, 2018, at St. Francis Healthcare in Breckenridge, MN.
He was born on October 19, 1942, in Fergus Falls, MN, the son of Norris P. and Helen B. (Jenson) Raw. Jon attended rural grade school and graduated from Rothsay High School in 1960. He then went on and completed a year of schooling at the Fergus Falls Community College.
On June 21, 1969, Jon married Kathleen Matz at St. Thomas Church in Kent, MN.
Jon joined the United States Army and served from 1964-1966. He was employed by Farmers State Bank of Rothsay for 35 years, Dakota Clinic for 5 years, and also helped out with Kathy’s Daycare. He was a city councilman for over 20 years. He was also the secretary/treasurer of the Rothsay Housing for over 20 years, along with serving as the church treasurer for South Immanuel, and on the Board of Directors for Partners.
Jon enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved to go hunting with his brothers, to read, golf, going to ball games, plays, dance recitals, going to the opera with his daughter Linda, and playing with the daycare kids.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Norris and Helen; in-laws, Mathew and Louise Matz; and brother-in-law, James Matz.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Kathleen Raw of Rothsay; children, Michael (Erin) Raw of Shakopee, Linda Raw of Hastings, Mark Raw of Farmington, Jennifer (Kendall) Landers of Rothsay; grandchildren, Autumn, Alexandra, Talia and Wren Raw, Jenson and Nora Landers; siblings, Allan Raw of Barnesville, Ken Raw of Bemidji.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Thursday, February 22, 2018, at the Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls, and resumes one hour prior to the service at the funeral home
Service: 11 a.m. Friday, February 23, 2018, at the Olson Funeral Home Chapel in Fergus Falls
Clergy: Reverend Phil Tobin
Military Participation: Fergus Falls V. F.W. Post 612 and American Legion Post 30
Interment: So. Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Rothsay, MN
