Jon Petterson

Jon Petterson, 53, of rural Fergus Falls, died Thursday, June 5, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family and under the care of Hospice.

He was born August 31, 1960, in Fergus Falls, the son of Victor and Janet (Torgerson) Petterson. He grew up on the family farm in rural Fergus Falls and attended school in Fergus Falls, graduating in 1978. He was baptized and confirmed at Augustana Lutheran Church in Elizabeth.

During high school, Jon was active in 4-H, FFA and farming with his family. On August 29, 1992, he married the love of his life, Michele Johnson, in Fergus Falls. They made their home on the family farm, where he continued to farm and worked part time for the Otter Tail County Solid Waste Department up until the time of his death.

His family meant the world to him, especially his girls. He enjoyed spending time in their countless activities, breakfasts at the Viking, and teaching them how to hunt, farm, and care for the farm animals. He was an active Ducks Unlimited committee member, and was currently or formerly a member of numerous sportsman clubs. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trap shooting.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, David.

Survivors include his wife, Michele; two daughters, Autum and Lindsey, both at home; a sister, Kim (Jeff) Lotzer of Fargo, ND; a sister-in-law, Lanette Petterson of Fergus Falls; Michele’s parents, Don and Rita Johnson of Perham; brothers-in-law, Mike (Sheri) Johnson of Alexandria, and Dean (Colleen) Johnson of Detroit Lakes; along with nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 5-7 pm Sunday, with a prayer service at 6:30 pm at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 10:30 am Monday, June 9, 2014, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls
