Jolene Joy Beck, 77, of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, June 8, 2019, at her home, under the care of LB Hospice.
Jolene (Jo) was born on November 27, 1941, in Edgeley, ND, to Edward and Fern (Noble) Triepke. After graduation Jo served in the U.S. Army as a medical nurse. Jolene was a member of the local Fergus Falls VFW Post 612.
On February 20, 1965, Jolene was married to Paul Beck in Crandon, Wisconsin, by Pastor Johnny Cash. After their marriage, the couple moved to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and a year later moved to Taiwan. Fergus and Paul traveled the world courtesy of Paul’s various postings with the U.S. Army.
When Paul retired from active duty in 1976, he and Jolene moved to Fergus Falls where they raised their family. Jolene worked at the Regional Treatment Center for 29 years and then at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls, retiring in 2004. In her retirement years, Jolene traveled some, but you could usually find her at the casino with her best friend, (Punky) Loomer. Jolene loved to play cards and go to bingo with Donna and Jon Armstrong. Jolene had a passion for sewing and baking, which earned her the nickname “the cookie lady.”
Jolene is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; brothers, Dennis and Harvey Triepke.
Jolene is survived by her daughters, Paula Beck (Mark Jahnke) of Fergus Falls; Darla Beck of Fergus Falls; Wanda Beck (Mike Venzke) of West Fargo, ND; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
