John “Jack” Andrew Brush, 82, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Friday, March 22, 2013, at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls.
He was born December 15, 1930, in Jamestown, North Dakota, the son of Harper and Mary Ethel (Dewey) Brush. The family moved to Dickinson, ND, and then Fargo, where he graduated from Sacred Heart Academy (now known as Shanley High School) in 1948. He then attended NDSU, and later the Brown Institute in Minneapolis, graduating in 1953. He began his radio career in Longview, Texas.
He served in the U.S. Navy from December of 1950 to February of 1951, when he was medically discharged.
On January 5, 1962 he married Yvonne May Kilde in Fergus Falls, and they made their home in Fergus Falls. Yvonne passed away in 1997.
Jack married Margie Kilde on March 18, 2000 in Pelican Rapids.
Over the years Jack worked at many positions, including with KBRF AM-FM in Fergus Falls from 1961-1981, KJJK-FM in Fergus Falls where he was the owner and general manager from 1981-1985, the Fergus Falls Community College, Lake Region Community Television from 1985-1993, and with KCQV-FM in West Fargo. He also was a local sports broadcaster.
Jack was a member of the Elks, Eagles, American Legion, the MN AP Broadcasters, and the MN Broadcasters Association.
He enjoyed jazz music, and was a Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings fan. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and always had a laugh and a smile to share.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Yvonne, and a brother, Dewey Brush (Brother Kevin O.S.B).
Survivors include his wife, Margie, of Fergus Falls; children: Jackie Brush (Steve) Kukene of Haverhill MA, Roger (Rita) Anderson of Erhard, Rae (Terry) Burns of Barrett, Jeff (Colette) Kilde of Elizabeth, Brenda (Dewey) Umlauf of Wahpeton, and Sally (Tim) Engelhart of Fergus Falls; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jane (Harvey) Brush Lillestol of Alexandria.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial Service: 1 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2013 at Augustana Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls

Interment: First United Church of Christ Cemetery, rural Fergus Falls
