John Paul Stortroen, 53, a resident of rural Faribault, formerly of Fergus Falls, died Friday, September 7, 2007 at his home.
John was born on September 15, 1953 in Fergus Falls, the son of Paul and Burnette (Swatfager) Stortroen. He grew up in Fergus Falls and graduated from Fergus Falls High School. After graduation he was employed by the City of Fergus Falls. Through the years, John resided in Barrett, Willmar and Faribault. He worked for Genova Pipe Company for the past 27 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, watching western and war movies, rebuilding pallets. He also loved his cats and dogs. In his younger years, John was active in scouting.
Preceding him in death was his father and a granddaughter, Izebella.
Survivors include his children, Heather (Cory) Schorn of Bemidji, Nicole Stortroen of Bemidji and Paul (Mari Jo) Stortroen of Willmar; 5 grandchildren, Kevin, Dominique, David,Angel and Delana; mother, Burnette Stortroen of Fergus Falls; 2 sisters, Sarah (Mike) Koep of Clitherall, Paulette Anderson of Fergus Falls; 2 brothers, Allan Stortroen of Fergus Falls and Dan (Lori) Stortroen of Sioux Falls, SD. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
