John "Jack" Andrews

John “Jack” Andrews, 85, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls.
Jack was born February 24, 1929, the son of Marvel and Bertha (Hesse) Andrews in Bemidji. He grew up in Bemidji and graduated high school in 1946. Jack attended Bemidji State College for one year, then attended the University Of Minnesota College Of Pharmacy and graduated in 1951. During that time, he served with the Minnesota Army and Air National Guard for five years, including one year active duty in Kansas. He was discharged in 1952.
He began working at the Atkinson Pharmacy in Bloomington, where he met Laura Schultz. They were married in 1953 and made their home in Richfield before moving to Fergus Falls where he worked at Associated Pharmacy. He later formed a partnership with Bob Meister and started what was to become Andrews and Meister Drug, retiring in 1994. Jack was a solid business man and community leader, who loved his family very much.
On March 3, 1984, he was united in marriage to Rhoda Johnson at the First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.
Jack loved golf, the Minnesota Gophers, Minnesota Twins, playing cards and spending time with his family.
He was a member of the Pebble Lake Golf Club, Elks, Rotary, Police Commission, First Lutheran Church, having served as Church Council President, U of M Pharmacy Fraternity, and American Legion. He was past president of the MN State Pharmaceutical Association.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rhoda, daughter, Christine Andrews; grandson, Joseph Sampson; sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Bradburn.
Forever blessed by his unconditional love for his family are his children; Linda (Bud) Mellon, Stanley (Julie) Johnson, Jeffrey (Janet) Andrews, Robert (Gwen) Johnson, Karen (Robert) Larson, Elizabeth (Bruce) Starkey, and Michael (Heather) Andrews. He was a loving grandpa to Sarah (Tony) Desjarlais, Erica (Eric) Berg, Angela Sampson, Melissa Sampson, Ryan, Megan, Anthony, and Alex M. Johnson, Alex P. and Andre Johnson, Derek (Rochella) Larson, Marisa (Curtis Klinga) Larson, Sean Larson, Nicholas and Samantha Starkey, C.J. and Bennett Woods, Ellyn (Jacob) Hexum, Camden Andrews; and his 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2014 at Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls and resumes one hour prior to the service at the Church.
Service: 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014 at First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.
