John French, 90, of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls.
John (Jack) Everard French was born September 27, 1933, son of Everard and Kathryn French in Woodstock Vermont. He graduated from Woodstock High School in 1951, where he met Myrna Peoples, who he married in 1953 in Hartland, VT. They moved to Boston, MA, where he graduated from Northeastern University. He worked for around 50 years as an electrical distribution engineer in multiple US States, Saudi Arabia, and Bangladesh, as well as India, Pakistan, South Korea, and Indonesia.
Jack lived in Fergus Falls, MN, in the 1960's and 1970's and was a Boy Scout leader, member of the Otter Go Camping Club, the Elks Lodge, and Grace Methodist Church, and owned the Wee Villa Resort with Myrna. While living in Dover, Delaware in the 1980's and 1990's, he was a member of the Volksmarchers and Delaware MENSA, and was Director of the City Electric Department. He and Myrna retired to Penhook, VA, where they were active members of the Penhook United Methodist Church. Lately, he lived in Fergus Falls. By the time of their passing, he and Myrna had been around the world at least 3 times.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years; his parents; sisters Carolyn Shannon, Dorothea French, and Judith (Bob) Pearson; brothers-in-law Orvis, Wilmer, and Vernon Peoples; sisters-in-law Verla (Bob) Jewell and Anita (Glenn) Burch, and grandsons Josiah Donaldson and Darren Dinell.
He is survived by Elizabeth Stillwell, Charlotte (Lenny) Lieberman, and Susan Maxham, brother-in-law David (Norma) Peoples; 5 children, Arthur French, Ellen (Frank) Donaldson, Debra (Daryl) Donahue, Daniel French, and Karen (Mark) Stanley; 16 grandchildren, Raven Dinell, Erik Dinell, Myla (Jeremiah) Donaldson-Cox, Jessica (Mat) Olson, Kathleen (Keith) Zeimer, and Andrew Donaldson, Tovah Donahue, Kael French, Jessye Gould, Myrandah French, Kristina (Thomas Jr.) Henry, Tiffany (Ray) Nails, Alyssa (David Woodall) Stanley, Jordan (Javar Evans) Stanley, and Kyle Stanley; 19 great grandchildren, Cyla, Wyatt, Brayden (Mary), Mersadies, Sofia, Justin, Alexander, Geordyn, Zekkeus, Lucius, Jack, Thomas III, Kaden, Savannah, Coreah, Marley, Adrien, Adeya, and Vincent; 5 great-great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-great-granddaughter.
A funeral service will be held May 21st at 11am at Woodland Baptist Church, 220 Skogmo Blvd., Fergus Falls, MN. Graveside service to follow in Barnard, VT.
