John Isaac Evavold, 77, a resident of Sioux Falls, SD, and formerly of Ashby, died unexpectedly August 29, 2019, at his home.
He was born January 24, 1942, in Fergus Falls, the son of Bert and Nora (Nelson) Evavold. He graduated from Ashby High School and furthered his education, graduating from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis.
From 1968-1974, he served in the Army, stationed in Vietnam and then he was transferred to the Army Reserves. He worked in road construction with Orville Jacobson in Ashby and Mark Sand and Gravel in Fergus Falls. He became the manager of the Ashby Equity for several years and then moved to Moorhead to become the manager of the Cenex Co-op, and eventually became a financial consultant for Cenex Corporate. He decided to become an independent financial consultant and spent some time working in Israel and later moved to Sioux Falls, SD, where he remained until his death.
Preceding him in death were his parents, and a sister-in-law, Joan Evavold.
Survivors include his brother, Norbert of Ashby; nieces and nephews, and their families - Perry (Mona) Evavold of Ashby, Robin (Richard) Johnson of Moorhead, Pamela (Guy) Olson of Fergus Falls, Ramona (Robert) Carney of Lakeville, Randy (Kim) Evavold of Moorhead and Pauline (Daniel) Dunn of Fargo, along with several cousins.
Memorials preferred to Pelican Lake Cemetery, Ashby
Visitation: one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 2 p.m. Thursday, September 12, 2019, at Peace Lutheran Church, Ashby

Interment: Pelican Lake Cemetery, Ashby
