Jess “Chubs” Wentler,52, a resident of Fergus Falls, passed away suddenly as a result of a heart attack on Friday, August 7, 2015.
Jess James Wentler was born on May 15, 1963 in Fergus Falls, to James and Jolene (Jacobson) Wentler. He grew up in Fergus Falls and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1981. After graduation, he attended school in Staples and Detroit Lakes, where he completed culinary courses.
He began his cooking career at the Fairhills Gulf Club and later for other restaurants, including “Mr. C’s”, Elks Club, The Viking Café and Mill Street Residence. For a time, he had his own restaurant called Chubs Place (by the lake).
He loved fishing, hunting, watching the Minnesota Wild and the Minnesota Vikings and also enjoyed woodworking.
Jess was preceded in death by his parents James and Jolene Wentler.
He is survived by four brothers, Jay (Merri) Wentler of Fergus Falls, Joel Wentler of Zimmerman, Jody (Teresa) of Oak Grove and Jason of Erhard; a sister, Jill Wentler of Fergus Falls; three nieces, Daceyn, Maggi and Kelsey; one nephew, Adam; a great-nephew, Dustin; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation: Tuesday, August 11th from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Olson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Service: Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 1:00 at the Olson Funeral Home Chapel. Please feel free to wear Minnesota Wild or Vikings apparel.
