Jerry Varholdt, 61, of rural Pelican Rapids, died at his home.
He was born June 18, 1953, in Fergus Falls, the son of Johan and Bernice (Lerbakken) Varholdt. He was baptized and confirmed at Hamar Lutheran Church, Rothsay. He attended country school, rural Pelican Rapids and graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1971.
Jerry was employed with BNSF in the Maintenance of Way Department (tri state area of Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota) from 1971 until his retirement in 2013.
He was a member of BNSF Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Johan and Bernice Varholdt; his grandparents, Albert and Josephine (“Josie” Gulbraa) Varholdt and Anton and Bertha (Hanecam) Lerbakken; and a nephew, Mark Allen Ouren.
Survivors include his siblings JoAnn (Herbert) Anderson of Hawley, Betty Ouren of Barnesville, Robert (Jean E.) Varholdt of Hawley and Sheree (David) Erickson of Rothsay; nephews and nieces, Michael Anderson of Hawley, Michelle (Steven) Goossen of Benson, Chad (Bethany) Ouren of Rothsay and Jennifer (Brandon) Ruud of Hawley; great nephews and nieces, Justin, Matthew, Noah, Mariah Goossen and Grace Ouren.
Visitation: one hour prior to the service at the funeral home
Service: 1 pm Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Olson Funeral Home Chapel, Fergus Falls
