Jerome Philip Pederson, 76, a resident of Reston, Virginia and formerly of Underwood, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011 in Virginia. He was born August 8, 1934, in Underwood, Minnesota, the son of Dr. Philip and Lydia Pederson. He grew up in the area, graduating from Underwood High School in 1952. He then attended the University of Minnesota where he studied accounting and auditing, receiving his Bachelor degree in Business Administration in 1957. On September 1, 1956, he married N. Diane Peterson in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He served with the U. S. Army Quartermaster Corps for six months of active duty at Ft. Lee, Virginia, followed by eight years of Active Reserves. Jerome worked as an auditor for the United States General Accounting Office (GAO) from which he retired after 38 years of service. He was a member of the California Society of Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Preceding him in death were his parents. Survivors include his wife, N. Diane Pederson of Reston, VA, two sons: Kent (Pam) Pederson of Novi, MI, and Brian (Deb) Pederson of Brooklyn Park, MN; four grandsons, Christian and Brent Pederson of Novi, Michigan, and Kyle and Ryan Pederson of Brooklyn, MN; two brothers, Eldon (Nita) Pederson, and Lorne (Cindy) Pederson; and several nieces and nephews.
