Jerome "Jerry" Curtis Swenson

Jerome “Jerry” Curtis Swenson Sr., 74, of Fergus Falls, died on Monday, October 31, 2016, at his home.

Jerry was born on February 14, 1942, to Arthur and Alice (Jacobson) Swenson in Parkers Prairie, MN. He grew up in rural Battle Lake on the family farm near Eagle Lake. He attended grade school in Battle Lake and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1960.

On February 23, 1963, Jerry was united in marriage to VonEtte Newborg at Zion Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. Over the years, he was employed in sales at various local businesses. He also worked at Henry’s Candy Company, Kordel Furniture and Shoremaster, and owned and operated Cross Point Resort in Pelican Rapids.

Jerry was a member of the Underwood American Legion and several local sportsman’s clubs. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, a good auction sale, and collecting sporting goods, especially guns.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Alice Swenson.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 53 years, VonEtte “Vonnie” Swenson of Fergus Falls; his sons, Jerry Swenson, Jr. of Fergus Falls, Jesse (Julie) Swenson of Fergus Falls, Jamie (Stephanie) Swenson of Battle Lake and Jay (Chad) Swenson of Fergus Falls; ten grandchildren, Samantha (Justin) Donovan, Serena Swenson, Sarah (Josh) Shol, Heidi (Ben) Bohannon, Michael (Jordan) Swenson, Amanda (Luke) Samuelson, Susan Wellendorf, Joseph Swenson, Karllie Tomlinson and Shawna Tomlinson; and eleven great-grandchildren, with two more on the way, due in November and May.
