Jerald Swanson

Jerald Swanson, 70, a resident of Detroit Lakes, died Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND.

He was born on July 29, 1944, in Perham, MN, the son of Arvid and Marie (Gilbery) Swanson. Jerald graduated from Perham High School in 1963. After school he joined the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam War.

In 1992 he married Jannice Carr in Sisseton, SD. She died on September 1, 2000. He was an automobile mechanic and enjoyed working on cars, especially convertibles.

He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. Jerald also enjoyed gardening, especially tulips and glads.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, brothers, Lyle, William and Keith and a brother-in-law, Murray Meyer.

Survivors include his special friend, Lenora Hanson of Detroit Lakes; two sisters, Joyce Meyer and Peggy (Rick) Wilcox all of Dent; sisters-in-law, Else Swanson, of Green Acres, FL, Leona Swanson of Fergus Falls and Trudy Swanson Schreier of Perham, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be 2:00 pm Saturday June 13, 2015, at the United Methodist Church of Dent and will be led by Pastors Gregory Leslie and Richard Wilcox. The family will be greeting friends beginning at 1:00. Assistance provided by the Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls.
