Jerald "JB" B. Brusven

Jerald B. “JB” Brusven, 75, of Elizabeth, died suddenly, Friday, February 14, 2014 at his home.

Jerry was born December 31, 1938 in Pelican Rapids to Hans and Gladys (Varholdt) Brusven. He grew up in Star Lake Township and attended school in Pelican Rapids, graduating in 1956.
After high school Jerry entered the United States Army Reserves.

On September 5, 1959 he was united in marriage to Joan Wedll at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Elizabeth.

Through the years, Jerry worked for various companies including, Fergus Ready Mix, Soby Construction and Mark Sand and Gravel. Most recently he was a truck driver for FM Asphalt and Aggregate Industries. He retired in 1998.

Jerry was a member of the Elizabeth Fire Department for 49 years. He also was a member of St. Elizabeth Church, Elizabeth Lion’s, and was a recipient of the Melvin Jones Award. He was involved at the Elizabeth Sportsman Club and on the Community Center Board. Jerry also served as former mayor of Elizabeth.

His hobbies included fishing, hunting, woodworking and 4-wheeling. Jerry could fix anything and enjoyed putting up the community Christmas lights every year.

Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Mavis Mayfield; brother, Mark Brusven.

Jerry is survived by his wife Joan of Elizabeth; five children, Todd (Kelly) Brusven of Charlotte, IA, Timothy (Peggy) Brusven of Elizabeth, Paul (Jacque) Brusven of Elizabeth, Rebecca (Patrick) Tuholsky of Big Lake, Jill (Bob) Stockinger of Elizabeth; seven grandsons, David Brusven, Jake Tuholsky, Dylan Brusven, Brandon Brusven, Conrad Stockinger, James Stockinger, Reed Stockinger; great-grandchild, Laila Mattson; brother-in-law, Clifford Mayfield of Erhard; sister-in-laws, Linda Brusven of Devils Lake, ND, Barb Wedll of Circle Pines, MN, Jean Wedll of Elizabeth; also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Sunday, February 16, 2014 with a public prayer service at 6 p.m. at Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 11 a.m. Monday, February, 17 2014 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Elizabeth, MN
